Advantage Home Care to host Monthly Memory Cafes

Beginning Tuesday, March 3rd and continuing on the first Tuesday of every month, Advantage Home Care will host a Memory Café to support people diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease and/or related dementias. The meeting will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at the company offices located at 550 Forest Avenue, Suite 206 in Portland. Attendees may park in the Social Security Parking lot behind the building on Ashmont Street. The building is handicapped accessible and has an elevator. Refreshments will be served. The meeting will be moderated by Richard Blumenthal, founder and President of the company.

Memory Cafes Offer Socialization Opportunities for People with Memory Loss

One of the biggest challenges for people diagnosed with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease is the loss of opportunities to socialize with others. Alzheimer’s Association Announces A Telephone Support Group for Caregivers

The Alzheimer’s Association, Maine Chapter has announced that it will provide a Telephone Caregiver Support Group for caregivers of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. The purpose is to reach those caregivers who could benefit from a support group, yet find it difficult to travel to a meeting site. The group is designed to provide emotional, educational and social support for caregivers through regularly scheduled meetings; help participants develop methods and skills health to solve problems and encourage caregivers to maintain their own personal, physical and emotional health. Support the Alzheimer’s Association at the Annual Wreath Auction at Bay Square

Enjoy this holiday season by attending the annual wreath auction being held at Bay Square at Yarmouth on Thursday, November 29th from 5 pm to 7 p.m. Bay Square is located at 25 Forest Falls Drive. Advantage Home Care Supports the Portland Walk to End Alzheimers

On Saturday September 22nd the staff of Advantage Home Care and their family members participated in the Portland Walk to End Alzheimer’s at Payson Park in Portland. 13 staff members and their families, a total of 27 people made the walk. The company also raised over $2100 for this great cause.
