Memory Cafes Offer Socialization Opportunities for People with Memory Loss

One of the biggest challenges for people diagnosed with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease is the loss of opportunities to socialize with others. The diagnosis often brings a loss of old friendships and isolation. The good news is that there are now opportunities for those diagnosed with these conditions and their family members to meet casually with others having the diagnosis at the new Memory Cafes opening around greater Portland and the rest of the state. At the Memory Cafe attendees can feel safe, share their stories and concerns and get information that will be helpful as they navigate life with the challenges of dementia. The current dates and locations are listed below

Portland-2nd Tuesday of the month, 1:30 pm -3:30 pm at the Woods at CancoBiddeford-4th Tuesday of the month, 9:00 am-11:00 am at the North Dam Milll                              Kennebunk- 1st Monday of the month, 11:30 am -1:30 pm at the Seed and [email protected]
