Many senior clients experiencing minor or serious medical conditions must take medications and may be challenged by prescribed timing and administration. Although our caregivers cannot directly administer medications, they can assist in meeting this challenge while care taking in the home. Advantage caregivers assist with scheduled reminders, side effect reporting to family and medical professionals, and medication organizers.
Advantage Home Care trains caregivers with a comprehensive overview of frequently prescribed (and over-the-counter) medications for common conditions experienced by seniors including: Alzheimer’s and dementia; anemia; anxiety; arthritis; asthma; diabetes; high cholesterol; hypertension; heart disease; kidney disease; liver disease; and, Parkinson’s disease. In some cases our clients suffer from several of these disorders and require careful monitoring of their medications.
Our caregivers are sensitive to the potential dangers medication mismanagement, especially in situations with clients requiring multiple medications. Advantage caregivers are trained to record specific medication administration times in the daily logs contained in the care plan binder that remains in the home. Medical professionals can use this information to monitor the impact of multiple medications.
